Entrepreneurship, China and The Global Executive MBA in Shanghai

27 Feburary 2016

Everyone is talking about entrepreneurship these days. It seems easy to start an entrepreneurial journey in China, but it is not so easy to be successful. On Saturday, 27 Feb. 2016, Mr. Guofu Chen, alumnus of GEMBA Class II and a highly successful entrepreneur himself, shared his valuable experience and perspective with a GEMBA alumni and friends, Centre De Vin in Hong Kong.
Guofu leads high performance business organizations specializing in electronic materials. He is an excellent motivator that takes companies to new levels. Guofu aims to help organizations explore new territories and prepare for aggressive growth.
During the event, Guofu summarized five characters of the entrepreneur mind, including creativity, suspicion of predictors, comfort with uncertainty, openness to experimentation and functional humility. He also reviewed essential aspects of doing business in China in particular.
Guofu reminded us all of the assertion by GEMBA’s founding Academic Director., Prof. Larry Greiner, when GEMBA began a dozen years ago: “About half of our L.A.-based EMBA students have changed their jobs or career paths within a year of graduation – but I expect that 50% of you, our GEMBAs, will make a change before you even graduate, because of the transformation you’ll have achieved during the program.” Prof. Greiner’s statement has proven true every year.
Want to learn more about the credibility and transformation that GEMBA offers? Would you like to engage with our distinguished alumni on entrepreneurship and other aspects of business success? Join our information session on 12 March to learn more about the program and to meet GEMBAs. The next GEMBA cohort, Class XIII, begins on 5 May 2016. Please send your CV to uscgemba@sjtu.edu.cn for more details.
